1. NEW ISSUE: TURBULENCE 5, ‘AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT?’
Issue 5 of Turbulence is out next week! The 40-page, full colour magazine includes articles by Bini Adamczak and Anna Dorst, George Caffentzis, Colectivo Situaciones, Massimo De Angelis, Gifford Hartman, Walter Mignolo, Rodrigo Nunes, Frieder Otto Wolf and Tadzio Mueller, Rebecca Solnit.
Issue 5 also features a new text by the editors, ‘Life in Limbo?’, and — on the anniversary of the 1999 protests against the World Trade Organisation Ministerial in Seattle — the responses of 20 people from across the global ‘movement of movements’ to one question, ‘What were you *wrong* about ten years ago?’
If you can help distribute a bundle, get in touch letting us know how many you would like and where we should send them. We’ll be asking for a small donation towards the cost of postage.

2. TURBULENCE LAUNCH PANEL AT HISTORICAL MATERIALISM CONFERENCE, LONDON, NOV 27-29
Issue 5 of Turbulence will be officially launched at the Historical Materialism Conference in London (November 27-29, 2009). The event will take place at the School of Oriental and Asian Studies (SOAS), Thornhaugh Street, London, WC1H OXG. The Turbulence editors will present the issue and the core problematics it attempts to address. John Holloway and Angela McRobbie will be the official ‘discussants’ on the panel, and we hope to get a conversation going with everyone who comes along. The panel will be chaired by Matteo Mandarini.
The conference is organised by the Historical Materialism journal and is an increasingly important location for discussion among the critical-Marxist left and beyond. This year’s conference is titled ‘Another World Is Necessary: Crisis, Struggle and Political Alternatives’. The event is free and open to the public, but prior registration is required (see website below). A suggested donation for this self-funded event, for those registering in advance, is £40 waged and £15 unwaged.

3. TURBULENCE MASS DISTRIBUTION AT THE COPENHAGEN CLIMATE CONFERENCE IN DECEMBER
We’ve always tried to launch new issues of the magazine at events. This has been for two reasons. Firstly, because moments when large numbers of us come together tend to be those times in which we’re open for new ideas and discussions – and we hope to contribute to both. Secondly, they’re a great, practical opportunity for us to get rid of large numbers of the publication in one go! We can hand out individual copies to people who’ve turned up and, hopefully, give small bundles to people to stuff into their suitcases and backpacks before heading off home.
We’re using the events taking place around the ‘COP 15’ Copenhagen Climate Conference in December (7-18) for both these ends. So if you’re heading ‘up’ (or ‘down’, or ‘across’) there, look out for a copy to grab. Better still, get in touch and arrange to pick up a bundle to take back to your town or city.
Or, if you have an hour or so to spare… We’re looking for people who can help us distribute thousands of copies of the magazine throughout the event. In particular, we’re hoping to give out as many as possible at the big demonstration in Copenhagen on Saturday December 12. If you can give us a hand, email us and we’ll let you know a meet up time and place closer to the date.

4. TURBULENCE @ SIGNS OF REVOLT EXHIBITION, LONDON, 14-22 NOV
From 14-22 November, 2009, copies of Turbulence will be available at the Signs of Revolt: Social Movements Since Seattle exhibition in London.
The exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of the protests against the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial in Seattle and hopes to mobilise to protests around the Copenhagen Climate Conference in December (see above).
The event takes place at Shop 14, Truman Brewery, London, E1 6QL, between Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane. The nearest underground station is Liverpool Street. The exhibition is open 10am-10pm weekends, and noon-9pm weekdays.

5. TURBULENCE @ C WORDS: CARBON, CAPITAL, CLIMATE, CULTURE EXHIBITION, BRISTOL, NOV. 17-29
The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination have a week long installation (17-22 Nov.), Operation Bike Block, followed by a week of workshops (22-29 Nov.), at the Arnolfini gallery (16 Narrow Quay, Bristol, BS1 4QA, UK). The event is part of the C Words two month investigation organised by Platform at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol in the run up to the Copenhagen Climate Summit. For more information click here.

6. WEBSITE UPDATES
We’ve updated our website with a few ‘Web 2.0’ features. Most importantly, we’ve installed a button that will allow you to link articles to your Facebook, MySpace or Twitter accounts – and other social networking sites – with just one click. We hope you’ll help us overcome our rather modest (to say the least!) budget and help us get articles out into the ether.
7. TRANSLATION HELP NEEDED
As ever, we’re hoping to get articles published in Issue 5 translated and reprinted elsewhere (as well as making them available on our website). Most of the articles are published under a ‘Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike’ licence. That means, so long as you cite Turbulence and the author as the source, don’t make a profit, and only reprint under the same conditions, you can reproduce most of the texts however you like.
